Author of aggressive behavior after Senegal’s defeat against Algeria, Sadio Mané made amends after letting the tension subside.

Senegal suffered its very first setback on Tuesday evening in its Abdoulaye Wade stadium. The African champions lost against Algeria (0-1), also conceding their first clash at home against the Greens since 1993. A poor performance that Sadio Mané had difficulty accepting.

Mané admitted his mistake

At the final whistle, the Senegalese star appeared particularly upset. Angry, the new Al Nassr player even violently pushed away an Algerian journalist who came to question him about the match. A scene which has gone around the web and which inevitably does not do justice to its great player.

Mané, however, quickly realized that he had made a mistake. Once he calmed down, he wanted to talk things over with the Algerian journalists. In the mixed zone of the stadium, he rushed to find them in order to answer their questions and thus give them something to think about. “Like this, I redeem myself”, he told them with a smile.

Fair play, the former Liverpool striker also admitted that the Greens deserved their victory: “We lost, we weren’t effective and they won. The entire Algerian team was strong today and we congratulate them.”

Mané has already suffered a defeat against Algeria and it was much more painful than Tuesday’s. It was in the CAN 2019 final in Egypt.
