While he continues his progress since 2024 at Losc, Ethan Mbappé, 19, made his debut for the France Espoirs team during the last international window. But Kylian’s little brother is also courted by his father’s country of origin.

After being invited to the African Cup of Nations in Morocco last winter to support his friend Achraf Hakimi, will Kylian Mbappé one day attend a CAN to follow the performances of his little brother Ethan? The Losc midfielder is only 19 years old and still has several years ahead of him to decide on his international career. Arriving in 2024 at the Mastiffs, the left-hander trained at PSG quietly made a place for himself under the orders of Bruno Genesio, in the right midfielder position, before doing the same under the orders of Davide Ancelotti.

Little spared from injuries since his arrival in the North, Ethan Mbappé still made his way to the France Espoirs team during the last international window. The native of Montreuil honored his debut with the Bleuets by coming into play in the last two matches of the qualifiers for the next Euro U21, against Iceland and Estonia, before getting injured. His objective for the season is therefore to shine when he comes into play or his few starts with Lille before competing in the European Championship in the category.

Cameroon and the Ethan Mbappé jackpot?

Ethan Mbappé is however announced in the sights of the Cameroonian federation to be called up with the Indomitable Lions. As a reminder, his father Wilfrid Mbappé was born in Cameroon, while his mother Fayza Lamari is a native of France (from Seine-Saint-Denis) of Algerian origin. Technically, he can therefore also opt for the Greens, even if his big brother Kylian has already explained that the siblings had grown up more with his father’s culture.

Ethan Mbappé could thus strengthen Cameroon with Carlos Baleba, Danny Namaso and Bryan Mbeumo, which would be a nice sporting coup but also a thunderclap in terms of marketing. Others are expected: the international hopeful tricolor Valentin Atangana (who plays at Al-Ahli), Quentin Ndjantou, striker trained at PSG, who is only 19 years old and is French U20, or even Lucien Agoumé, 24 years old, trained at Sochaux and manager of the Bleuets from 2023 to 2025, who has been playing at Sevilla FC since 2024.
