The bad news keeps coming for Inter Milan. Beaten by Club Brugge (3-4) in the Champions League, the Nerazzurri also lost their captain Lautaro Martínez to injury. Yet author of a double against the Belgians, the Argentine striker was hit in the left thigh and had to undergo medical examinations this Thursday at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano. The verdict fell immediately. “ Examinations revealed muscle strain in the left thigh flexors », announced the Italian club in an official press release. An injury which should keep the 2022 world champion away from the field for several weeks, with a return envisaged after the international break in November.
A real headache for Cristian Chivu, who should have to cope without his main offensive asset for seven games. This unavailability comes at the worst time for Inter, already in difficulty on the European scene with two defeats in as many days and no points on the clock. The Romanian coach will therefore have to find new solutions in attack to compensate for the absence of his captain, whose efficiency had nevertheless allowed the Milanese to stay in the match against Bruges. If the club has not yet communicated a precise date for his return, the objective would be to recover Lautaro Martínez at the end of the next international break.
