Young world champion in 1998 then hero of the French team during the coronation at Euro 2000, by scoring the golden goal in the final against Italy, David Trezeguet, who is celebrating his 49th birthday, also failed in the final of the 2006 World Cup. Again against the Nazionale and in front of his club teammate Gigi Buffon, the emblematic scorer of Juventus (2000-2010) missed his shot on goal when he found the bar. What is less known is that, behind the scenes, “Trezegol” had been the victim of strange blackmail from a star paparazzi.
In the spring of 2006, the sulphurous Fabrizio Corona obtained photos showing Trezeguet in the company of a young woman who was not his wife. To prevent the publication of the photos in the transalpine celebrity press, the Franco-Argentinian paid 25,000 euros. After investigation, the courts considered that it was extortion. Trezeguet had only become a civil party and the court granted him the right to be compensated, up to 25,000 euros.

The paparazzi Fabrizio Corona was thus sentenced to three years and four months in prison and his collaborator Marco Bonato received the same prison sentence for extortion. The photographer behind the case, Fabrizio Pensa, was sentenced to five months in prison for invasion of privacy.
This Fabrizio Corona had particularly hit the headlines: in December 2009, the paparazzi had already been sentenced to three years and eight months in prison for trying to extort Inter players Francesco Coco and Adriano, Inter players, as well as motorcycle driver Marco Melandri. Each time by threatening to publish photos of them in charming company at a nightclub. “I’m ashamed of being Italian. I no longer trust the law. It’s a shame, so we should condemn all the photo agencies in Italy”the TV man shouted in front of the judges.
