Wolves supporters paid a vibrant tribute to Diogo Jota, their former striker tragically died on July 3 in a car accident alongside his younger brother.
A video retracing its best moments in the Wolves jersey was first broadcast on stadium screens. Then, the stands were embraced with a huge tifo accompanied by a strong message: “We will remember you when you walk on the gold fields”. Enough to recall the unwavering link between the Portuguese player and the club which revealed it in England.
Arrived from Atlético de Madrid in 2017, Diogo Jota played three full seasons in Wolverhampton before joining Liverpool for around 45 million euros. In 131 games, he had scored 44 goals and delivered 19 assists, leaving a lasting imprint in the recent history of the Wolves.

The ceremony also took on a particular dimension with the presence in the stands of Ruben Neves, accompanied by the companion of Diogo Jota. The former captain and close friend of Jota, now a player from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, did not miss the opportunity to honor the memory of his former teammate. His arrival was greeted by the supporters.
A little earlier in the week, a wall fresco had been inaugurated around the Molinine Stadium to perpetuate the memory of Jota. Between emotion and respect, Wolverhampton has once again proven that the Portuguese striker will forever be engraved in the hearts of his supporters.
