Unlike PSG, Enzo Maresca did not have the luxury of sparing his best players last weekend in preparation for last night’s shock. Manchester City traveled to Anfield (3-0 victory), when Paris hosted an astonishing Manceaux since the start of the season, but well within reach of the reigning double European champions (3-1 victory). An unequal room for maneuver, linked to the gap in competitiveness of the two championships, which Enzo Maresca regretted last night.
“They can blow the players away when they play games right before the Champions League… it’s different for us when we go to Anfield but I’m very proud of the team and the way they reacted”commented Maresca on the microphone of beIN after Manchester City’s defeat against PSG (2-4). The Italian coach also felt that his team was close to the level of their evening opponent.
