Eight years after his last appearance in the Premier League, Sunderland celebrated his return to the English elite by welcoming West Ham on the first day. For the occasion, Black Cats supporters made a superb tifo. On the latter, we see a knight piercing the face of a monster resembling a dragon or a snake.

A reference to the myth of the Lambton Ver, a very popular local legend in England. According to beliefs, a member of the Lambton family, a rich owner of a castle in the northeast of England, fought a monster similar to a snake with sharp teeth and gills on each side of his neck, in 1420. Note that Sunderland won 3 goals at 0.
