The Premier League is a world apart. It is the one where a promoted is able to pour continuous money flowers into the transfer market. As of August 1, Sunderland has the 6th most spending club in England with no less than € 140 million released in this transfer window for € 40 million in sales, including € 30 million for the Jobe Bellingham (party at Borussia Dortmund). Since the beginning of the summer, the Black Cats have been preparing their return to the first division after 8 years of absence by chaining the beautiful recruits and promising names, if not snoring. And it's still far from over.

The club announced this morning the signature of Robin Roefs from NEC Nimègue for € 12 million. He should be the holder this season at a position where the now ex-numéro one, Anthony Patterson, appears as a luxury replacement. It was Régis le Brois's desire to densify this sector of play. The young Spanish striker, Marc Guiu, is also expected in the coming hours, on loan from Chelsea. The latter would be the 9th summer recruit and probably not the last. Amine Adli is one of the latest tracks after failure in the transfer of Armand Lauriente.

Francophones in the spotlight

Sunderland had warned even before announcing its first transfers. He was going to be very active, in particular thanks to his € 238 million received in TV rights and allocations for his promotion. “We knew, as soon as we plan these first weeks that we would start with 45 players”assured the breakup last week at a press conference, wishing to test each of them during the preparation, before reducing their group as and when. “Management will gradually become clearer.” The club is still slow to decide because in addition to Bellingham, only Tom Watson was sold in Brighton (€ 10 million) and Adil Aouchiche loaned to Aberdeen.

This is one of the peculiarities of Black Cats, a recruitment stamped Ligue 1, or at least French -speaking. Habib Diarra landed from Strasbourg for € 32 million, a biggest transfer in the history of Racing, then Enzo the fairy has definitively engaged against 23 M € from Roma. Belgian-Moroccan Chemsdine Talbi also came from the Bruges circle for € 20 million then it was the turn of the Ivorian Simon Adingra, recruited € 25 million in Brighton. Finally, there was Noah Sadiki, € 17 million, from the Saint-Gilloise Union. This recruitment is young, they are all 25 years or less. Only Xhaka granite, arrived for € 20 million from Bayer, and the former Lille Reinildo (free) are exceptions.

Three recruits still hoped

A need for experience necessary before rubbing shoulders with the Premier League. It is also the result of Florent Ghisolfi's work, the French sports director who settled in the north of England this summer. Some recruits had already arrived but he applied the same policy. Once the attacker's and attacking background file is completed, Sunderland is still waiting for a central defender. We revealed to you a few days ago the names of Loïc Badé, particularly courted in England, but also of Nayef Aguerd. The ticket board always exit because nothing is not big to stay in the Premier League.
