In search of money, FC Barcelona studies the possibility of restructuring the Ansu Fati contract by applying the “Umtiti formula”, said Sport. A method already used in 2022 to extend the French defender until 2026, while reducing the impact of his salary wages. Currently, Ansu Fati is under contract until 2027 and will receive a gross salary of 12 million euros in 2025/2026 and 14 million in 2026/2027, a total of 26 million in two seasons. The idea of Barça would be to spread these amounts by extending its lease until 2030, which would bring its annual salary to around 5.2 million euros gross, with additional compensation to obtain its agreement. This solution would allow the club to release more margin in financial fair play for the summer transfer window.

However, this restructuring raises the question of the sporting situation of Ansu Fati. The Spanish striker, loaned to Brighton last season, struggles to convince Hansi Flick, who advised him in January to find a new club to relaunch his career. This season, he only played 8 ends of matches with the Catalan club for zero goal. Despite this, Fati remains determined to win at Barça. The application of this strategy could guarantee its contractual stability and give a boost to the club's finances, but remains to be seen if it will satisfy both the player and the coach, especially if the latter continues not to count on him.
