Algerian international Riyad Mahrez is leaving Manchester City after a six-year spell with Al-Ahli.

As expected, Riyad Mahrez is ending his adventure with Manchester City. The Algerian international could not resist the call of Al Ahli Jeddah and becomes the umpteenth star to take charge of the Saudi Pro League championship.

Mahrez multiplies his salary by five

The Saudi club made the news official this Friday morning, without giving details of the deal. It would be, according to several concordant sources, a contract for a period of four years. A commitment that would ensure the former Le Havre 50 million euros per year. That is five times more than what he received in the North West of England.

At 32, Fennec is turning its back on European football. Nevertheless, we can imagine that this decision will not impact his international future. He remains a key player in Djamel Belmadi’s selection.

Within the Saudi team, Mahrez will find other players who have passed through the English Premier League. Roberto Firmino, Allan Saint-Maximin and Edouard Mendy all joined this club before him.

Mahrez is the second major player from Manchester City to part ways this summer after Germany’s Ilkay Gundogan. Pep Guardiola will have to quickly find a replacement for him. The Catalan technician could also decide to padlock Bernardo Silva, otherwise his training will be greatly decimated on the right flank of his attack.
