The (new) dirty Dazn to his subscribers

While the Dazn platform is preparing to withdraw from the French audiovisual landscape, its latest decisions are raising misunderstanding. A few weeks before his final departure, the subscribers expected at least a smooth outing. But the reality is quite different: the British broadcaster seems determined to play the spoilsports to the end. A behavior which confirms, for many, that the company has never been able to seize the codes or the expectations of the French market.

According to a team survey, the platform for the moment refuses to end the annual commitment subscriptions, even if the broadcast of Ligue 1 stops at the end of the season. For subscribers whose contract runs until August or September, the promised content will no longer be available. However, Dazn takes refuge behind discussions still in progress with LFP Media, still hoping for a future role. In the meantime, committed customers find themselves trapped in a contract that has become deciduous, but still active in the samples.

Basically, Dazn's attitude is a commercial nonsense. How to maintain consumer confidence by refusing a termination, however justified? Especially when the avowed objective is to continue to operate in France. The argument that the platform will still offer content this summer (club world, kick-boxing, basketball) seems very low. None of these events has the attractiveness of a major national championship, and Dazn knows it.

Blocked subscribers, refused terminations: Dazn under fire

Dazn is a lot of accounts on the next World Cup to regain fields. But this maneuver could be counterproductive. Who will take out a subscription with a diffuser who has already demonstrated his opacity and rigidity? Even the free broadcast of the World Cup matches will probably not be enough to make people forget the last weeks of tension with French subscribers.

In the end, Dazn gives the image of a disillusioned actor, more anxious to recover some monthly payments than to build a lasting relationship with the public. And even if the hypothesis of a return is not yet completely excluded, this last impression could prove tenacious. Because in a sector where image and confidence are essential, it is not enough to broadcast football: you still have to know how to respect those who look at it.
