After coming off injured during Sunday’s Premier League clash between his Manchester City team and Arsenal (2-2), Rodri officially knows what he’s suffering from. And it’s bad news.

When he was taken off on a stretcher in the twenty-first minute of the match between Manchester City and Arsenal (2-2, 5th day of the Premier League), Rodri already knew that his pain was not that of a trivial injury. Three days later, the various tests undergone by the Spanish midfielder delivered their verdict. And the news is not good since Rodri is suffering from a ligament injury in his right knee.

The information was made official on Wednesday by the Manchester club in a press release published on its website. “Manchester City can confirm that Rodri has suffered a ligament injury in his right knee. (…) The midfielder travelled to Spain at the weekend to consult a specialist, following initial tests in Manchester.”

More information to come

While the end of the Spaniard’s season is almost a done deal, the final details of this famous injury remain to be known. “The evaluation is continuing to determine the exact extent of the injury and the resulting prognosis.” And the Manchester club concluded with words for the injured man. “The whole club wishes him a speedy recovery.”

Manchester City also said they would provide regular updates on their player to supporters.
Skyblues Pep Guardiola’s side will now have to do without a key element of the system the coach has put in place. With Rodri on the pitch, City have won 74% of their games.
