FC Barcelona were on the back of two defeats in friendly matches. It remained to be seen whether the final adjustments would be made in time by Hansi Flick for his very first official match in La Liga on the Catalan bench. During the first half, doubts settled in the Blaugrana ranks, before everything more or less returned to normal, with a stunning victory at the end (1-2).
In a 4-2-3-1 system with Lewandowski up front and Yamal in support, the visitors took control of the game from the first minutes, but it was Valencia who were the first to show themselves to be realistic, with the opening goal scored by Hugo Duro on a pass from the inevitable Diego Lopez (1-0, 44th). In the process, the locals came very close to the break goal after a catastrophic recovery from Ter Stegen. Fortunately for him, the goalkeeper was replaced on his line by Cubarsi’s miraculous block.
Lewandowski scores twice
The luck of the Ches had passed, because a few seconds later, it was Lewandowski who found the gap, allowing his team to equalize just before the return to the locker room (1-1, 45th + 5). A blow to the head of the locals, and a second right after the restart with a penalty conceded and a double offered to the Pole from Barcelona (1-2, 48th). Finally in front, the visitors did not let go of their advantage and failed several times to extend a larger advantage.
Five games have been played so far in this first day of the Spanish championship and with Celta Vigo, FC Barcelona is the only one to have won so far. The season is only just beginning, but Kondé’s partners have already shown encouraging things for the future.
