A month and a half before the start of the new MLS season, Lionel Messi has returned to training with Inter Miami. A certain Luis Suarez discovered his teammates!
Almost two months after his last official match (with Argentina in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers), Lionel Messi resumed training with Inter Miami on Saturday with his teammates. The Ballon d’Or record holder (eight since last October) reunited with his friends Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets but also Luis Suarez, recruited last December 22 by David Beckham’s MLS franchise.
Gerardo Martino’s team has a hell of a pre-season program, with friendly matches against El Salvador (next Friday in San Salvador), FC Dallas, Al Hilal and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr (in Riyadh), then against the selection of the Hong Kong championship and Vissel Kobe (in Tokyo) and, finally, a final preparation match in Florida against Newell’s Old Boys, Messi’s first club.
The IMCF will play its first match of the season in MLS on February 22 with the arrival of Real Salt Lake, with the ambition of doing much better than last fall. Despite the arrival of the captain of the Argentine world champions, Inter finished in penultimate place in the Eastern Conference.
