Atlético, a history of departure?

After nine seasons spent in the jersey of Atlético de Madrid, Angel Correa seems on the verge of leaving the club, heading to Saudi Arabia.

He is one of the oldest at Atlético de Madrid. At least in terms of longevity within the Madrid house. Now twenty-eight years old, Angel Correa was not even twenty when he arrived at the Colchoneros. But after nine seasons of good and loyal service, the offensive team is now thinking of looking elsewhere. A fantastic offer from Saudi Arabia undoubtedly plays a role in his thinking. Atlético could agree to part with him, on the express condition of first finding a replacement.

According to Mundo Deportivo, it is therefore a golden contract which would have reached Angel Correa, from Al Ittihad. The Saudi club would thus offer him a contract worth sixty million euros (to be spread over three years). Coach of Al Ittihad since this summer, Marcelo Gallardo would strongly push his leaders to be generous in attracting his Argentine compatriot, explained the Spanish media. The latter added that Correa was willing to accept the offer for two reasons: salary and competition from Alvaro Morata and especially Antoine Griezmann.

Two players, one agent

Before letting him leave, Atlético would like to find Angel Correa’s replacement. MD specified that Thiago Almada, currently a player for Atalanta United (MLS), would be the priority target. The twenty-two-year-old Argentina international can play in midfield as well as on the wings. An advantage in this game of musical chairs: Correa and Almada have the same agent: Agustin Jimenez.
