Paul Pogba doesn’t have much to wait anymore. According to the Italian press, the Juventus midfielder, who tested positive for testosterone, will appear before the anti-doping court on January 18.
Since joining Juventus in the summer of 2022, Paul Pogba has barely played. During his first season with the Italian club, it was his physique that failed him with a succession of injuries and relapses. This year, it’s a completely different problem which has prevented him from playing for several months. Testing positive for testosterone on August 20, the midfielder was sidelined by his club while awaiting the date of his trial. This was disclosed by the transalpine press.
Like La Gazzetta dello Sport, several Italian media indicated this Tuesday that Paul Pogba would be summoned by the Italian anti-doping court on January 18, 2024. The hearing time would be set for 2:30 p.m. It will take place near the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. As a reminder, Paul Pogba and his defense chose not to find a financial compromise with the courts in an attempt to reduce the sentence the player faces.
Reduced sentence?
For the moment, “La Pioche” can therefore fear a maximum suspension of four years, but his defense perhaps has in its possession the elements which will allow it to reduce the player’s potential sentence. Thus, and as certain experiences of the same kind have already proven in the past, it is entirely possible to see Paul Pogba sentenced “only” to a few months of suspension. Everything should therefore be decided during the second half of January 2024.
