Argentina u20 coach Javier Mascherano has said he would like to select Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria for the 2024 Olympics.
Olympic champion in 2008, winner of the Copa America in 2021 and the World Cup in 2022, Lionel Messi has won everything possible with the Argentina selection, whose history he has undeniably marked, particularly since the world title in Qatar.
Two title possibilities this summer
The former Parisian could have the opportunity to further grow his legend with the Albiceleste in the summer of 2024. While he should obviously be part of the team which will travel to the United States for the Copa America in July , he could also participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
In an interview given to TyC Sportsthe coach of the u20s Javier Mascherano indicated that he would like to be able to count on the seven-time Ballon d’Or but also on Angel DiMariawho shared all the joys and sorrows with Messi in the selection and who was also a scorer in the three finals he won. “In the event of qualification, it would clearly be a source of pride for us to be able to have two world champions and this type of players. There are players who deserved to decide certain things. And clearly, Leo (Messi) and Angel (Di Maria) are part of it”, explained the former Barça player.
