While Juventus had won against Lazio a little earlier this Saturday to temporarily take the lead in Serie A, the 4th day of the Italian championship continued with a prestigious confrontation between AC Milan and Inter for the traditional Madonnina derby. The two Lombard formations could regain their place on the transalpine throne in the event of victory. And the match got off to a flying start as Simone Inzaghi’s players came off only a few minutes after the kick-off given by the match referee, Mr Simone Sozza. After winning his duel against Malick Thiaw on the right side, Marcus Thuram managed to cross to the opposite side for Federico Dimarco whose blocked shot returned to Henrikh Mkhitaryan who could adjust Mike Maignan (5th, 1-0).
Despite the intervention of the VAR, the officials validated this first achievement in a Milan derby for the striker of the France team. Just before the end of the first quarter of an hour, the Armenian midfielder, alone and very well placed in the opposing area, sent a header just next to the cages of the French goalkeeper of AC Milan (11th). Largely dominated in possession of the ball, Inter showed great collective control to resist opposing attacks without really suffering.
