Real Madrid missed out on the Rodri file because its offer was considered insufficient. According to Sportthe Merengues only offered 40 million euros to Manchester City to try to recruit the Spanish Ballon d’Or, without ever revising their position upwards. The English club, however, demanded between 55 and 70 million euros for its midfielder.

Faced with this significant gap, discussions quickly came to a halt. Real also failed to reach an agreement with Rodri, which definitively ended the operation. This failure now benefits FC Barcelona. The Blaugrana have become the leading candidates to sign the Spain international and are preparing a higher offer than Real, while hoping to secure a deal at the low end of Manchester City’s demands.
