The race for the Europa League is not over in the Premier League. Brentford and Sunderland can in particular believe it.

There is suspense at all levels at the end of the Premier League season. In addition to the fight for the title between Arsenal and Manchester City, or even that which concerns maintenance, several teams are fighting for a European place. This is particularly the case for Brentford, Sunderland and Brighton who were on deck this Sunday, just after Manchester United’s victory over Nottingham Forest (3-2). With varying fortunes.

And it is precisely the combination of the results of each that still leaves everything open for qualification for the Europa League. Having never participated in a European Cup, Brentford came close to being in trouble this Sunday against Crystal Palace. Trailing twice, the Bees came back each time to finally snatch a draw (2-2). Enough to temporarily occupy eighth place, synonymous with the Conference League.

The bad operation was for Brighton, beaten in the last seconds of added time at Leeds (1-0). THE Seagulls still remain seventh but are only one point ahead of Brentford. On the other hand, an excellent move by Sunderland who beat Everton (1-3). Régis Le Bris’ players find themselves ninth, one point from the Conference League and two from the Europa League.

Premier League, a final day that promises

Everything will be decided during the final day of the championship scheduled for May 24. Brighton will host Manchester United, Brentford will not be spoiled with a trip to Liverpool while Sunderland will host Chelsea. The Blues who, like Everton – and to a lesser extent Fulham – still have European hopes.

In the last match which was played at 4 p.m. this Sunday, relegated Wolverhampton was held in check on home soil by Fulham (1-1).
