An evaluation carried out with the LFP confirmed that the current conditions no longer made it possible to ensure the safety and physical integrity of the players. PSG therefore agreed, with the LFP and Stade Rennais, that the match will be played at Roazhon Park, Sunday at 8:45 p.m.
The Parisian club also wanted to apologize to the supporters concerned and announced that it had already identified a solution to replace the lawn at the Parc des Princes. “The latest heatwave, which follows the successive and exceptional heat waves which affected the Paris region this summer, has greatly accelerated the deterioration of the pitch at the Parc des Princes, today particularly damaged a few days before the meeting between Paris Saint-Germain and Stade Rennais, scheduled for Sunday August 23 at 8:45 p.m. as part of the first day of Ligue 1. In view of this situation, the Professional Football League (LFP), in conjunction with Paris Saint-Germain, carried out an assessment of the condition of the pitch. It concluded that the current conditions did not make it possible to organize the meeting in satisfactory conditions, particularly with regard to the safety and physical integrity of the players, which remain the absolute priority. In order to allow the meeting to take place on the date and time initially planned, it was therefore decided, in agreement with the LFP and Stade Rennais, that it would take place in Rennes, at Roazhon Park, on Sunday August 23 at 8:45 p.m. Paris Saint-Germain fully understands the inconvenience caused by this change for its supporters and all the people who had planned to attend this meeting at the Parc des Princes. The Club regrets this exceptional situation and will communicate to ticket holders all information relating to the applicable terms and conditions as soon as possible. Paris Saint-Germain thanks Stade Rennais, Rennes town hall and the Ille-et-Vilaine Prefecture for making the match possible. At the same time, the Paris Saint-Germain teams have already identified a solution for replacing the pitch at the Parc des Princes with a view to the next matches, starting with the reception of AS Monaco on September 4, 2026, in the case of the 3rd day of Ligue 1.
