The Serie A meeting between Cagliari and Udinese (0-2), played on Saturday during the 36th day, was marked by a lively controversy around alleged racist insults. At the end of the match, an altercation broke out between several players after Udinese striker Keinan Davis accused Cagliari defender Alberto Dossena of making racist remarks to him. According to the English striker, the Italian player would have notably called him a ” monkey “particularly serious accusations which caused significant tension on the pitch and led to a scuffle between the two teams.

After the match, Udinese quickly published a press release to support their player and strongly condemn the facts denounced. For their part, Cagliari disputed this version of events, saying there was no objective evidence to support the accusations against Alberto Dossena. The Italian defender also spoke on Instagram to categorically deny any racist behavior, explaining that they are ” hurt “ by such accusations. For his part, Keinan Davis maintained his comments publicly, asking Serie A to act in this matter. Official reports from referees and championship delegates are now awaited to shed light on this new case of racism in Italian football.
