The board of directors of the Professional Football League (LFP) approved this Monday the holding of the Champions Trophy in Qatar, on January 5.

It is in Doha that PSG and AS Monaco, respectively champion and first runner-up last season, have a meeting – an option favored by the LFP while Ivory Coast was also a candidate for the organization.

Initially, the Champions Trophy was to be played last August in Beijing, but Chinese administrative formalities got the better of the LFP’s patience. The event is expected to bring in 3 million euros for the League, part of which will be donated to the two clubs concerned.
