PSG had to pay more than the amount of the release clause to afford Manuel Ugarte. A hell of a bet for Luis Campos, who plays big with this rookie.
In order to convince Sporting Portugal to give him Manuel Ugarte, PSG paid more than the amount of his release clause. The latter was 60 million euros and made it possible to win the bet for the Uruguayan international who signed up this Friday with Paris. But to undermine the competition from Chelsea, the French club has obviously made efforts in all possible areas. Thus, as with any transfer, the solidarity mechanism applies to allow the clubs that trained the player to receive a small part of the compensation. It is usually an amount included in the total price and which is divided between the clubs where the player played in his youth. For Sporting, it will not be deducted from the total bill and it is therefore PSG who took charge of this amount in addition to that of the transfer.
PSG waters Ugarte agents
🆕✍️
Paris Saint-Germain are delighted to welcome Manuel Ugarte to their professional squad from the 2023-2024 season.

And it’s not over, Sporting Portugal revealed the details of the transaction, said that all remuneration of intermediaries and agents had been taken into account by Paris SG. And it climbs seriously since the entourage of Manuel Ugarte still recovers several million euros in the transaction, directly paid by the Ile-de-France club. In the end, PSG will have paid 65 million euros to bring the midfielder, even if it is the amount of 60 million euros which will be officially retained as a reference for this transfer. Quite an investment for a player who has played around fifty matches in the Portuguese first division, and around ten Champions League matches. But Luis Campos is certain of his shot, despite the failures of the bets last summer at amounts admittedly a little lower.
