Zinedine Zidane’s adventure with the France team is about to begin. We will have to be patient for another month before seeing the Blues again with their brand new coach. The first list should come out around mid-September during the first three matches counting for the Nations League. There will be a trip to Turkey (September 25), then to Belgium (September 28) before the big home debut on October 2 against… Italy. In a twist of fate, it was against the Squadra Azzurra that the former number ten had his last selection.

We know the story too well. No need to dwell on the past. We must now turn to the future. Didier Deschamps’ successor has already given his first press conference. There shouldn’t be any big shake-ups in his first roster. The group in place is fully mature and works well overall, the Blues’ performance during the last World Cup proved this. It is internally that things will move. As announced, the technical staff will be considerably strengthened with no less than 23 people present.

Barthez as the only world champion 98

The French Football Federation today formalized the staff of the French team, appointed by its President, Philippe Diallo, on the proposal of the new coach, Zinédine Zidane. The staff of the French team will be completed and presented in its entirety at the beginning of September, as announced during the press conference for the appointment of Zinédine Zidane on July 28. Its final composition will notably include a liaison officer, who will be designated within the framework of the provision agreement between the FFF and the Ministry of the Interior.», Communicates the FFF this Thursday morning.

In this staff, we find some well-known faces like that of Fabien Barthez, goalkeeping coach who succeeds Franck Raviot. Zidane’s assistant during his period at Real Madrid, David Bettoni returns to his position and takes over from Guy Stéphan. Also anticipated and loyal among the faithful of the coach, Hamidou Msaidie is there as another assistant. Grégory Dupont (strategy and performance advisor), Stéphane Plancque (observer) are there.
