This is a first major blow for Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappé. Having arrived this summer from PSG, the Frenchman was gradually starting to find his rhythm. After a very complicated first few weeks with major physical and technical difficulties, Kylian Mbappé seemed to be getting better and better and finding automatisms with his teammates. He had notably started to string together goals with 5 goals in his last 5 matches including a very nice goal this Tuesday against Alavès (3-2).
But there you have it, his evening, which had started well, ended badly since he was forced to give up his place in the 80th minute (replaced by Arda Guler) after a thigh pain. The first news from the Spanish press was not reassuring since there was talk of a bicep injury and a withdrawal at least for this weekend against Atlético de Madrid in the derby. A hard blow for Carlo Ancelotti who seemed to find a coherent offensive animation with the quartet Bellingham, Vinicius, Mbappé and Rodrygo.
Mbappé to miss Lille match
This Wednesday morning, Real Madrid did not delay in communicating. The Madrid club confirmed the Frenchman’s injury and the bad news. “After the tests carried out today on our player Kylian Mbappé by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris of the left leg. Evolution pending”we can read on the club’s official website. The French team’s striker will therefore undergo further tests to see how his injury is progressing, but he is already out for several weeks.
Indeed, according to The Athletic and the Spanish press, Kylian Mbappé will miss 3 weeks of competition. He will therefore miss the matches against Atlético de Madrid and Villarreal in La Liga but he will especially miss the Champions League match against LOSC on October 2. There will therefore be no reunion between Kylian and his little brother Ethan Mbappé who plays for the Dogues. Mbappé will also miss the gathering of the Blues and the Nations League matches against Israel and Belgium on October 10 and 14.
