The Mancunian experience did not go as planned for Donny Van de Beek. Arriving in England in 2020, after an excellent stint at his training club Ajax Amsterdam (175 matches, 41 goals), the Dutchman had a nightmare with the Red Devils. Recruited for 40 million euros by the Old Trafford residents, Van de Beek never managed to establish himself and was even loaned twice (Everton in 2022 and Eintracht Frankfurt in 2024).
Despite this difficult experience in the north of England, the Dutchman does not hold it against anyone within Manchester United. “I won’t say any bad words about the club. Of course, I didn’t play much, but I learned a lot. With a lot of good players and good people within the club. I will take all these things with me for the future.”the 27-year-old midfielder told ESPN NetherlandsToday on the Girona side, the Dutch international (19 caps, 3 goals) will be able to advance in his career in Spain.
