Manchester City did not deliver their most serene performance since the start of the season on Saturday at home to Brentford. The Citizens still won (2-1) in front of their home crowd on Matchday 4 of the Premier League, again thanks to their superstar Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian scored twice to help his team turn around a bad situation, scoring his 8th and 9th goals since the start of the season. This is obviously a record, as no one has ever scored so many goals after 4 matches since the creation of the championship.
Things had started badly for Pep Guardiola’s men, who were behind after 22 seconds, on a header from former Lorient player Yoane Wissa, after an approximation from John Stones (0-1, 1st). Served by Kevin De Bruyne, calmed after his little post-defeat depression against the French team with Belgium, Haaland controlled and deceived Mark Flekken with a cross shot (1-1, 19th). Then, after a long ball from his goalkeeper Ederson, the City cyborg used his physical power to get past his defender, before adjusting the Brentford goalkeeper with a left-footed chipped ball (2-1, 32nd).

Thanks to the leniency of Mr Bond, the match referee, the Mancunians remained at eleven against eleven despite Mateo Kovacic’s tackle on Wissa, forcing the Franco-Congolese to come off with an ankle injury.
To make the afternoon even more enjoyable, Manchester City learned that, at the same time, Liverpool had lost at Anfield (0-1) against Nottingham Forest, on a placed shot from Calum Hudson-Odoi (72nd). The Skyblues are therefore the only team to have collected 12 points out of 12 possible and will have at least two points ahead of the first pursuer, possibly Arsenal, who travel to the pitch of their rival Tottenham this Sunday.
