Sad news for Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker learned this week of the death of Ivar Eggja, a great friend of his family. According to English media, the Manchester City striker has been given permission to miss the match against Brentford on Saturday, as part of the 4th day of the Premier League.
In a press conference, Pep Guardiola spoke about the situation of his player, who has won two consecutive hat-tricks in the league.
“It’s a difficult moment for him and his family,” the Spanish manager commented. “It was sad news, he’s a close person, him and his family, 59 years old, our thoughts are of course with his friends and family. It’s sad. We’ll see tomorrow if he’s able, mentally and physically, to play.”
On Instagram, Erling Haaland paid tribute to this close friend on Thursday.
“You are a legend, Ivar. Words cannot describe how much you meant to me! Words cannot describe how much we will miss you!”wrote the former Dortmund player.
