Barcelona appear to have already moved on from Nico Williams, as the Spanish leaders are set to sign Dani Olmo.
However, some within the club are still hopeful that a deal can be agreed for the 22-year-old winger.
Williams taken hostage?
Remarkably, TV3 reported that Barca people believe Williams was forced to record the video that shows him returning to training, ending all doubts about his departure from Athletic this summer. Thus, there is a belief within the club that the player did not want to record the footage.
It’s a rather bizarre stance from Barcelona, if indeed it’s true. There are plenty of reasons why Williams would want to stay at Athletic, so there’s no shame in missing out on him this summer. They could try again in 2025, provided a new contract, with a significantly increased release clause, isn’t signed.
