As the end of Kylian Mbappé’s contract approached, Nasser Al-Khelaifi considered punishing the Bondynois by leaving him on the bench last January. An option refused by Luis Enrique.

There were twists and turns in the Kylian Mbappé soap opera at Paris Saint-Germain. And here is the one that didn’t happen, revealed by L’Equipe. Last January, Nasser Al-Khelaifi considered sidelining the Bondynois, again, in vain.

The president of PSG had already used strong tactics last summer, by depriving Mbappé of the tour in Asia before forcing him to train far from the first team. Things were finally back to normal, following a mysterious “deal” between the two men.

Mbappé, Al-Khelaifi wanted to put pressure on him again

In January, less than six months before the end of Mbappé’s contract, Al-Khelaifi would have thought of putting new pressure on his player, by leaving him again on the bench or in the stands. Luis Enrique was not in favor of this idea, which was not implemented.

Finally, it was in February that Mbappé announced to his leaders his departure at the end of the season. We know the rest, with this playing time which has declined sharply in Ligue 1. But on the side of Al-Khelaifi, we assure that this decision is purely sporting, and therefore dictated by Luis Enrique. But it is clear that the end of the adventure is tense between Mbappé and his president.
