FC Barcelona will open an investigation into Rafael Marquez’s betting partnership.
The Mexican icon used his personal social media accounts to promote a Mexican company, with prizes up for grabs.
Marquez’s activity has not been well received by Can Barca, who believes that the messages he published could damage his image and constitute a conflict of interest with his current partners.
A conflict of interest
Sport says it will now open an investigation into the matter and it will be its compliance department that will decide whether this is the case. At that point, the Blaugrana would be able to take official action.
Barcelona’s global betting partner is 1xbet, a Russian company that has itself come under scrutiny. Given that these partners have been exposed to deals in competitions that do not exist, as reported by Josimar, it therefore seems more likely that the Blaugrana are concerned about a conflict of interest rather than their public image.
