Big blow for Real Sociedad before the clash against PSG

Now three weeks before the Champions League clash against PSG, Real Sociedad has lost one of its senior players for the rest of the season.

Real Sociedad has regained some color as its trip to Paris approaches for the first leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League. Three days after qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey thanks to their victory on the Osasuna pitch, the San Sebastian club followed up with a 1-0 success at Celta Vigo. A minimalist success which nonetheless allowed the Basque club to maintain its sixth place in the La Liga standings.

But Real Sociedad paid a heavy price on Saturday. The Anoeta residents have indeed lost Aihen Munoz for the rest of the season. Injured in the knee, the left-back suffers from a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will therefore not be part of the double confrontation against PSG in the Champions League.

The 26-year-old must indeed undergo surgery in the coming days and although the duration of his unavailability has not been communicated, there is little doubt that his season is already over. In the absence of Aihen Munoz, the usual starter, it is Kieran Tierney, on loan from Arsenal, who should replace him in the left lane.
