Liverpool, Klopp’s big worry

At a press conference this Friday, Jürgen Klopp was quite concerned about Mohamed Salah’s injury with Egypt.

Egypt holds its breath. Held in check by Ghana this Thursday during the second day of the CAN, the Pharaohs especially lost their playing master Mohamed Salah, who came out holding the back of his left thigh just before the break. An absence of size which, if it were to last, would be a huge blow for the rest of the competition.

This could also be a huge one for Liverpool. Leaders of the Premier League, the Reds owe it greatly to their number 11, author of a fantastic first part of the season including 14 goals and 8 assists in 20 league matches, of which he is the top scorer and assistor this season.

” A shock “

For his part, Jürgen Klopp never sought to hide his disappointment at seeing his flagship player leave for the CAN, secretly hoping (or not) to see him return soon enough. Present at a conference two days before the trip to Bournemouth, the German technician was quite worried about the 31-year-old player. “We don’t know anything. I spoke with him last night and asked him how he was doing. With such injuries, additional examinations must be carried out, that is what they are doing at the moment and we will know more”he explained before adding that it was a “shock” for him. “We all know it’s very rare for Mo to get injured so it must be something, we’ll see. There will be an ultrasound and an MRI, then we will see what Egypt’s plan is”.

It must be said that Salah has never been conspicuous by his absence. Since his arrival on the banks of the Mersey in 2017, he has only missed 10 small Premier League matches.
