After 14 years at the head of the French team, Didier Deschamps left his position to Zinédine Zidane this summer. If it is true that the former OM player was criticized a little towards the end, and that many fans asked for change, his time at the head of the Blues will have been a real success, with a World Cup won in 2018, a Nations League in 2021 and a World Cup and Euro final. A nice track record, and Zizou knows he has his work cut out for him to do at least as well as his former teammate.

Often criticized in France, Deschamps has always had superb popularity abroad. While he was still French coach, he was regularly in the sights of big European clubs. Lately, some rumors in the corridors even suggested an interest from Real Madrid in the event of the dismissal of José Mourinho, even if we seem quite far from it currently, especially after the Merengue victory in the Clasico.

He is very popular there

And now in Italy, where we know well DDsome very interesting new information is being published this Thursday. Several media like La Stampa thus indicate that Deschamps is in the Juventus shortlist. With a sad eighth place in the Serie A standings after nine days and a new defeat against Genoa (2-0) on Wednesday evening, the Old Lady disappoints and Luciano Spalletti, in office since October 2025, has a good chance of paying the price in the coming days.

Didier Deschamps is therefore one of the favorites of the board Turin to replace him, while the names of Stefano Pioli and Antonio Conte are also on the table. La Repubblica also confirms the interest in the Frenchman, and specifies that Conte would not be particularly interested, instead waiting for Manchester United where Carrick could also be dismissed fairly quickly. It must be said that the passage of DD as a player left very good memories in Turin, where he won the Champions League in 1996, as well as three Serie A, among others. A defeat against Naples this weekend could seal Spalletti’s fate and therefore open the door to Deschamps.
