After three weeks of absence due to back pain, Marc-André ter Stegen decided to have an operation. He will be out for at least two months.

Since November 12, FC Barcelona has become accustomed to playing without its starting goalkeeper. Hit in the back, Marc-André ter Stegen has not played again for three weeks. His pain did not go away, the German consulted several specialists and finally chose to have an operation. The intervention is planned for the coming days and should result in an absence of two to three months for Ter Stegen.

The information was reported this Tuesday by Sport. The Spanish media explained that the operation accepted by the player could deprive him of the round of 16 of the Champions League that FC Barcelona should play in the second half of February 2024. One thing is certain, Ter Stegen will miss the semi-finals. -final of the Spanish Super Cup against Osasuna (January 11), but also a certain number of championship matches.

Second operation

Not necessarily dramatic for Xavi’s team whose upcoming opponents are not direct opponents for the Liga title, apart from the surprising Girona (2nd) which the Blaugrana will host on Sunday (9 p.m., 16th day). As for Marc-André ter Stegen, for whom this is the second major operation since his arrival at Barça (he underwent knee surgery during the 2020-21 season), he will be replaced in front of the cage by Inaki Pena.
