Kylian Mbappé’s trip to Paris on September 30 raised many questions in Spain. While he was injured, the Real Madrid striker was seen in the French capital, notably during an evening with his partner Ester Expósito. An escapade which had provoked numerous criticisms in the Spanish press, some wondering about the reasons for his presence in Paris during his convalescence period. But according to information from The Teamthis trip had above all a legal reason. The captain of the French team had in fact gone to the premises of the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) in order to be heard in the context of the Mohamed Sanhadji affair, former head of security for the Blues. Investigators are seeking to shed light on the personal and financial relationships maintained for several years between the former police officer and Mbappé’s entourage.
At the heart of the investigations are several financial movements and services provided by Mohamed Sanhadji. Justice is interested in a donation of 60,300 euros made by Mbappé in June 2023 from his bonuses from the 2022 World Cup, but also in a loan of 120,000 euros requested by the former police officer citing alleged financial difficulties. His presence alongside the player during a family trip to Cameroon, in July 2023, is also subject to verification. The investigation also concerns Fayza Lamari, the mother of the Madrilenian, heard last Friday by three investigating judges and placed under the status of assisted witness, without being indicted. He is notably accused of having asked Sanhadji to facilitate the obtaining of four visas intended for relatives. The former head of security for the Blues was indicted on September 16 for corruption, fraud and money laundering. Several personalities, including Franck Ribéry, Jamel Debbouze, Noël Le Graët and Philippe Diallo, were also heard in this affair.
