Another nightmarish evening for Vinicius Jr! Already widely criticized for his performances in recent weeks, the Brazilian once again experienced a particularly complicated match against AS Roma in the Champions League. Guilty of a loss of ball which contributed to a Roman goal, the Madrid winger was first repositioned on the right side by José Mourinho during the match, who chose to place Yan Diomandé on the left. But the Portuguese technician did not stop there. In the 58th minute, with Real Madrid trailing 3-1, he decided to take Vinicius out to bring in Endrick. A decision which absolutely did not please number 7, who clearly showed his displeasure by discovering his number on the fourth referee’s panel.
And the rest of the meeting proved Mourinho right! While Real Madrid were trailing and seemed totally overwhelmed by events, Vinicius’ exit coincided with an incredible turnaround. The Merengues completely reversed the trend by scoring three goals after his substitution, thus overthrowing a Roma who had largely dominated the debates until then. A spectacular scenario which risks further fueling the criticism around Vinicius Jr, whose place in the Madrid eleven appears more and more fragile.
