Lionel Messi castigated the muscular intervention of the Brazilian police against Argentine supporters after clashes with Brazilian supporters.
Argentina had a busy evening at the Maracana. Consequence of clashes in the stands between Argentinian and Brazilian supporters a few minutes before kick-off. Violence which prompted the Albiceleste players to return to the locker room before returning and then going as close as possible to the stands in order to calm things down.
Lionel Scaloni’s men were therefore in the front row to see the Brazilian police severely repress the Argentine fans. So much so that Emiliano Martinez wanted to intervene to prevent a police officer from hitting a spectator.
Despite the victory (1-0) won at the Maracana, Lionel Messi was angry after the match. “We did that because it was the way to calm things down a little. From below, there wasn’t much we could do. We could see how they were hitting the crowd. Something bad could have happened”he first told the press about his decision to return to the locker room.
The Inter Miami player gave it a once-over on social networks. “This team continues to make history. Great victory at the Maracana even if it will remain marked by the repression of the Argentines in Brazil, once again. This cannot be tolerated. This is madness and it has to stop now!”he said.
