Former Real Madrid and Chelsea player Eden Hazard has been honest about not feeling the need to return to the pitch after retiring this year.
Eden Hazard’s former teammate, John Obi Mikel has revealed that he has received high-paying offers. Hazard gradually lost his place in the Los Blancos playing hierarchy, struggling to perform and suffering a series of injuries which led him to end his career at the age of 32. Mikel revealed that part of the problem was that his body was being put under demands it never had before. Previously, The winger trained without problems until his arrival in Madrid, but after being caught up with injuries, the Belgian tried to change his habits.
“I had a phone call with him the other day, and he said, ‘You’re talking so much shit about me.’ Mikel revealed on Vibe with Five, referring to the ex-Nigeria international’s comments that Hazard was not putting in much effort in training.
“He told me he looked at himself, and when he went to Madrid he said, ‘Okay, let me try, let me try.’ But as soon as he started trying, he started getting injured in training, his body couldn’t cope.”
He said to himself, “You know what, I’m going to stop.” He got offers to go to Saudi Arabia, ‘should I go to Saudi Arabia and take a million a week? I received two or three Saudi offers, but I have a lot of money. You know how I live, I don’t spend too much money. So I have enough money to raise my children.”
Hazard remains the most expensive recruit in the history of Real Madrid (129 million euros) and will undoubtedly have earned many millions during his career. If his time with the Whites remains quite disappointing and many struggle to understand his state of mind, he seems to have a mature approach to life outside of football.
