The president of Stade Rennais, Olivier Cloarec, gave the reasons for Bruno Genesio’s departure.
As expected for several days, Bruno Genesio has left his position as coach of Stade Rennais. He was replaced by Julien Stéphan, officially presented to the press this Monday, in the presence of Olivier Cloarec. The president of the Breton club notably took the floor to explain the reasons for Genesio’s departure.
“We needed to have time to make the best decisions for the future of Stade Rennes. We have formalized the departure of Bruno Genesio by mutual agreement. This departure is linked to personal reasons. There was also a form of attrition in relation to the profession. I would like to salute the work of Bruno and his team for the results”confided Cloarec in comments relayed by RMC Sport.
“I think the batteries were not sufficiently charged”
And to add: “There was no misunderstanding as I read. There are a number of settings related to personal reasons. There is also a form of wear and tear. Bruno had been present in the club for 32 years. It’s a very tough job, the pressure is constant. I think the batteries weren’t charged enough. The conditions were not met. The decision not to continue was made by mutual agreement between the club, Bruno and me. It is a decision with serious consequences for the club and for himself. He is someone invested in his profession. To continue, you had to be definitely convinced. We must move forward, the institution is more important. »
