The Refereeing Department of the French Football Federation published its debriefing of the 6th day of Ligue 1 on Tuesday, focusing in particular on two contentious situations. During the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Le Mans FC, in the 90th + 2 minute, the referee first awarded a second penalty to the Parisians before reversing his decision after intervention by the video assistance. The FFF finally confirmed that this cancellation was in accordance with the Laws of the Game: Parisian number 17 encroached on the arc of the circle at the time of the shot and contested the ball pushed back by the goalkeeper. On the other hand, no certain encroachment by the accused Le Mans player could be established. The game therefore had to resume with an indirect free kick in favor of Le Mans, the report specifies.
The body also looked into the case of Tiago Santos, seriously injured against the HAC. According to the Refereeing Department, the seriousness of the injury is not enough to determine the disciplinary sanction: the intensity of the gesture, the speed of execution and technical mastery must also be taken into account. Considering that Le Havre’s intervention did not involve excessive speed or brutality, the FFF therefore considered that it was not necessarily a gross error. She nevertheless specifies that a warning would have been justified for this fault considered inconsiderate.
