Of all the coaches who have passed through Paris Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique will undoubtedly have been the most memorable and the most impactful. Arrived in 2023 after the failed passage of Christophe Galtier and the MSNthe Spanish technician allowed the Ile-de-France club to win its first Champions League in 2025, and its second the following year.
A love story
Adored by the Parisian public, the former FC Barcelona coach lives a true love story with the club and its supporters. And for the first time in his career, he started a fourth season with the same team. In an interview with the PSG website, he did not hesitate to proclaim his love for the club. “This is the first time in my coaching career that this story has lasted this long. It’s not easy to stay two, three or four years at a club. We are constantly connected, all the time concerned about the preparation of the team and everything that is important to them”he confided.
“Paris is special”
The former Spanish coach even says that in Paris, the feeling linked to pressure is different. “There is always the fear of losing, of not performing well. This is what is difficult for me to manage as a coach, and that is why it is complicated to stay in the same place for a long time. But Paris is different, Paris is special. What we experienced here from the first days was very special for me. This is why we continue, why we seek to improve.”he explained.
After welcoming his collaboration and his good understanding with the Parisian management and staff, Enrique spoke of the special bond he maintains with the supporters. “It’s the first time I’ve ever experienced something like this, and my reaction was: ‘wow!’ There is in particular this banner during the matches, and I also think of everything that happened around the Champions League final. It’s incredible. I can just say thank you to them. It’s a real pleasure. The supporters have always shown me a lot of respect, including on a personal level, and that means a lot to me.”says the Parisian coach. Which notably evokes the tarpaulin deployed in tribute to his deceased daughter. The love story is beautiful and seems set to last.
