Marcelo Gallardo flew to Saudi Arabia this Saturday, where he will coach Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté at Al Ittihad.
Despite an XXL transfer window marked by the arrival of the outgoing Ballon d’Or Karim Benzema but also N’Golo Kanté, Fabinho and Jota, Al Ittihad is only in fifth place in the Saudi Pro League after thirteen days this season. Disappointing results which led to the ouster of Nuno Espirito Santo, who had arrived a year earlier.
Gallardo excited about this new project
This Saturday, Marcelo Gallardowho will become the new coach of the Saudi club, addressed a few words to journalists present at Ezeiza airport, from where he was flying to Jeddah. “I wanted to go back to work, I’m excited because it’s something different. I chose Al-Ittihad, it’s a personal decision. They encouraged me with a great development project. It opens my mind. This motivates me. It’s a total discovery”explained the former AS Monaco player, whose name had been mentioned at OL and OM in recent months.
The Argentine technician could lead his first match with his new team after the international break, on November 24 on the pitch at Al-Ettifaq.
