Lille won against Slovan Bratislava on the 3rd day of the Europa Conference League group stage, this Thursday (2-1).

Without making any noise, Lille had started to get back on track after a mixed start to the season. The Mastiffs have returned to the level of Ligue 1, and they totaled 4 points after their first two outings in this group stage of the Europa Conference League. A revival which called for confirmation with an interesting confrontation against Slavia Bratislava, this Thursday evening.

With a flawless performance since the curtain went up, the Slovak club arrived with the status of leader of the group at the kick-off of this match. For LOSC, the challenge was to avoid any superiority complex, knowing that a victory would allow Paulo Fonseca’s men to overtake their opponent in the standings. And the Mastiffs succeeded in their mission! Without delivering a dazzling copy, Lille was able to avoid the trap set by the Slovaks to reap a precious victory.

Lille didn’t give up

A result that the Mastiffs were looking for in the second half. Because it was the visitors who broke the deadlock with a goal from Cavric before the half-hour mark (0-1, 23rd). Back against the wall, LOSC found the resources to turn the situation around after the break, with a decisive Cabella at the helm. The attacking midfielder served Yazici on the equalizing goal (1-1, 67th), before swapping his passer costume for that of a scorer, with a well-adjusted flat foot (2-1, 82nd) . Slavia finished at ten after the expulsion of Lucas Lovat for a careless gesture in the final minutes. Mission accomplished.
