This is good news for OM, who are preparing to experience a lucrative reunion.

OM confirmed this Wednesday the anticipated arrival of a new equipment supplier, for the 2027-2028 season. Linked to Puma until 2028, the Marseille club will however switch back to the Adidas flag in the coming months. The result of a handover agreement concluded between the two German brands mentioned.

“ This type of early recovery, with over-the-counter discussions, is not so commona market player told the Team this Wednesday. This happened in 2016-2017 at Chelsea, Nike succeeding Adidas, well before the contractual term (2023). This was done amicably and with compensation for the German brand. »

No financial details have leaked of course regarding this sealed deal between Puma and Adidas; but while revenues traditionally fall by around 25% for an equipment manufacturer during the last year of its partnership with a club, it is a safe bet that the feline firm will have gotten away with it.

An equipment manufacturer envelope almost doubled

For the three-striped juggernaut, the timing between now and next season is proving to be very tight. But the game was clearly worth it. For OM, the benefit is beyond doubt since from 16 to 20 million euros per year with Puma, the equipment envelope promises to increase to more than 30 million euros. Between 32 and 35 million euros, reports the sports daily mentioned above.

Adidas is closely linked to the great Olympian history, with the two emblematic presidents in common: Bernard Tapie and Robert Louis-Dreyfus. In the past, the idyll has already been consummated twice, over long periods. From 1974 to 1994 first, culminating in the historic coronation of 1993 in the Champions League, two years after an unfortunate first European final. Then from 1996 to 2018, including three more continental finals in the UEFA Cup (1999, 2004) and Europa League (2018).
