Accused of doping a few days before the start of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with Argentina, Papu Gomez has been stirring up sports news in recent days. But before facing these allegations, the Argentine attacking midfielder had just joined the Monza club.
For the 9th day of Serie A, Monza traveled to the pitch of Roma, a club coached by José Mourinho. The Argentinian did not hesitate to throw a dig at the Portuguese technician several days ago. Mourinho? I only have one memory of him, it’s when I won the Europa League with Sevilla against him,” he declared.
Words which did not go unnoticed since José Mourinho did not hesitate to respond to the Argentine world champion after his team’s victory with a score of 1 goal to 0 against Monza this Sunday afternoon.
“ I have a cough, but I won’t take any syrup or pills. Or I might have trouble passing doping controls,” he replied to the former Atalanta Bergamo player who should be suspended for the next two seasons.
The Albiceleste attacking midfielder also broke his silence this Sunday by publishing a press release on his social networks about this doping affair.
An accident for Papu Gomez, and nothing more
🚨 Papu Gomez spoke out following his suspension for doping:
1) I confirm that I have received a message from the Spanish Anti-Doping Commission indicating that my license is suspended for a period of two years.
2) Not only have I always rigorously respected all… pic.twitter.com/JDNtIIdDJj

Gómez explained the reasons for his positive doping test, linked to the presence of Terbutaline in his body. He claimed that this substance was present due to the accidental, unintentional and unintentional ingestion of a spoonful of his young son’s cough syrup.
He stressed that the therapeutic use of Terbutaline was authorized for professional athletes and that it did not improve performance in any way.
The Monza player also indicated that he had contacted his lawyers, disputing that the disciplinary procedure had not been carried out in accordance with the regulations. To be continued…
