Tiziri Digne did not mince his words. While the violence and looting marked the mobilization of Saturday October 17 against the increasingly difficult life in France, Lucas Digne’s companion spoke on Instagram to recall that the great French revolutions were also accompanied by excesses. “Don’t forget that July 14, 1789 (…) was marked by riots, fires, destruction, looting and numerous deaths», she wrote, also referring to May 68. For her, the anger expressed today cannot be reduced to scenes of violence alone.

The young woman above all called for looking at the fundamental problems that run through French society: the lack of resources in schools and hospitals, inequalities, racism and even police violence. “Stop being shocked over a looted luxury window or a burned bus stop when there are much deeper problems affecting our society“, she said. Before concluding with a strong sentence: “what disturbs today will perhaps be what we celebrate tomorrow», thus defending the legitimacy of the demands and the need to question the established order.
