It’s the crisis in Naples. The Italian club posted a video on its social networks mocking Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian’s agent threatens legal action.

From an idyllic season, punctuated by an Italian champion title, Napoli moved on to a particularly tense start to the 2023-2024 financial year. Firstly because the results have not really been there since Rudi Garcia succeeded Luciano Spalletti, then because strong tensions now exist between the club and its striker, Victor Osimhen. The latter was even mocked on the club’s official networks.

Already this weekend, an astonishing scene broke out between Rudi Garcia and Victor Osimhen. Furious at being replaced in the last minutes of the match against Bologna (0-0, 5th day of Serie A), the scorer verbally attacked his coach, visibly reproaching him for his playing system. Although he was later excused for his attitude, the Nigerian was no less noticed.

Two videos that challenge

But things did not stop there since on TikTok, the Naples community manager released a video mocking Osimhen. We see the striker asking for a penalty before missing it against Bologna this weekend, with a harsh voice in the background supposed to be that of the player. All turning the latter into ridicule. Other media, such as Dailymailalso reported that three days earlier, an equally inappropriate first video had been posted on Napoli’s social networks.

A video in which Victor Osimhen was called a coconut. The English media explained the double meaning of this comparison: “ A coconut – white on the inside and brown on the outside – is a racist slur used to accuse someone of betraying their heritage by adhering to white opinions or points of view. » For his part, Victor Osimhen removed virtually all photos of him with a Napoli jersey on his own networks, while his agent threatened the club with legal action.

“What happened today (…) is not acceptable, said Roberto Calenda. A video mocking Victor was made public before being belatedly deleted. A serious fact, which causes very serious damage to the player (…). We reserve the right to initiate legal proceedings and any useful initiative to protect Victor Osimhen. »The beautiful story between the striker and Napoli seems close to the end.
