Like many players in the world of sport and football, Hervé Renard sent a message of support to the victims of the earthquake which struck central Morocco during the night from Friday to Saturday.

It was a real tragedy that struck part of Morocco last night. An earthquake measuring seven degrees on the Richter scale caused the death of at least 820 people according to a provisional report. The provinces and cities of Marrakech and Al-Haouz were not spared. Faced with this catastrophe, there were numerous reactions across the world and from the football side, the messages continued to flow. Whether it was Olympique de Marseille or Paris Saint-Germain in France, Sergio Ramos and Carlo Ancelotti in Spain or even the Moroccan internationals Amin Harit and Achraf Hakimi, the support was numerous. Hervé Renard also wanted to express himself.

The current coach of the French women’s football team has a very special link with Morocco since he was in charge of the national selection between February 2016 and July 2019. Saturday on social networks, Hervé Renard therefore posted a message to the inhabitants of a country dear to his heart. ” All my thoughts and all my support to the Moroccan people in this difficult ordeal. My condolences to those who have lost loved ones. » All accompanied by an emoticon of clasped hands, as well as a Moroccan flag.

A real trauma

In Morocco, the media indicated that this earthquake was the most powerful ever recorded in the country. If the epicenter was located in the province of Al-Haouz, the tremors reached the cities of Casablanca, Rabat and Agadir. A real trauma for the inhabitants of the affected region mainly, but also for an entire nation. In Spain, a minute of silence has already been declared for all Liga 2 matches scheduled for this weekend. It will be the same next weekend, when La Liga resumes.
